Campuskunst - cultural project of the Studentenwerk Augsburg

Why actually culture?

The responsibilities of the Studentenwerks traditionally include the support of student cultural activities. This hasn't changed despite the lower budgets because, as Achim Mayer auf der Heyde, General Secretary of the Deutsches Studentenwerk, stated: "Art and culture belong to every field of study, to every university. Cultural education is part of higher education. Studying without culture is unimaginable for the Studentenwerks ."

The Studentenwerk Augsburg shares this opinion. We are sure that there is a strong latent cultural and artistic potential in the students of the three Augsburg universities which we would like to bring to expression. For this reason, we have launched a new cultural series called Campuskunst.

What is Campuskunst?

With Campuskunt, the Studentenwerk Augsburg goes into a "cultural offensive"! This evening event gives the students of the three Augsburg universities the opportunity to present their talent on the stage once or twice every semester. It does not matter whether you sing, play an instrument, dance or are talented in any other way - we are looking forward to "student artists" of all genres.

The premiere of Campuskunst (organized in co-operation with the cultural section of the AStA Augsburg) took place on May 10th 2006 in the Cafeteria of the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg and was a great success. The second event of Campuskunst took place in the "Alte Cafeteria" of the University in december 2006. The audience was impressed by the talents the student artists presented on stage: lectures and music of all styles.
In June 2007 the third event of Campuskunst took place. This time, again, in the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg. This time the audience could admire fire-artists, bands, humorous presentations and exotic dance. Fotos of this event you can view here.

The Campuskunst-event in December 2007 took place in the "Alte Cafeteria" of the University again. Pictures of this evening with a lot of comedy, music and an extraordinary performace about tuition fees you'll find here.

We are looking for student artists who would like to take part in the next Campuskunst event which will take place in May 2009.
